Welcome to Woodbridge, ON!
Located within the Greater Toronto Area, Woodbridge is a suburban centre of the City of Vaughn. Located just north of Toronto, Woodbridge was once an independent town and evidence of that is found in its geographic layout. Several restaurants and shops are located downtown, which is found on Woodbridge Avenue between Kipling and Islington Avenues. Historic shopping complex Market Lane is situated here and, in summers, is the location of the Woodbridge Village Farmers Market. Forming in the early 1800s, the community celebrated its 125 anniversary in 2007.Woodbridge has a large Italian population and as such, has some of the best Italian restaurants in the region. It is also home to the Woodbridge Italian Festival that is held over a weekend in August and features a beauty pageant, soccer tournament, carnival rides, singing, dancing, crafts, food and much more. The festival is usually held at the Ontario Soccer Centre, which is a leading, Canadian, competitive-soccer facility large enough to hold three indoor soccer fields. A hub of activity, the centre is also used for field hockey, lacrosse, rugby and tradeshows. The Woodbridge Fair, held annually over the thanksgiving weekend is a big deal having run now for over 160 years. Locals gather together for giant pumpkin, crafts, quilt, flower and photographer competitions along with various displays and exhibitions that celebrate this neck of the world.
